Eggers goes to Kona, day one
October 11, 2012This is going to be short because it’s 10pm Kona time, and I am really tired. Tonight I need sleep!
I was up at 4am Hawaii time, and so were my pals. Lucky for me. It was coffee at 4am with the sound of the ocean crashing against the lava rocks outside the windows. I felt like a kid at Christmas…. when will this sun rise????? By 5am we were running.IT was dark and warm and we weren’t alone out there. I was running on an island in the middle of the Pacific. I could hear this magnificent ocean outside my window yet couldn’t see it!
By 6am I saw it. And it was beautiful.
Then we headed down to the infamously famous “Dig me beach”. Nicknamed for the thousands of triathletes who crowd it for morning swims during the week of Ironman, showing off their Ironman physique. “Dig me beach” did not disappoint. I swam with my Go Pro and captured what I believe to be gorgeous footage of underwater beautiful. I hope to have that downloaded soon!
I saw fish that had more colors than a rainbow. I swam in beautiful clear blue saltwater. I had coffee in the middle of the ocean. I think I smiled the entire time.
We had breakfast at Lava Java. Visited the TYR house and made custom goggles.
I got treated like a darn rock star at the Quintana Roo bike tent. I got my own sign!
I got to talk to some folks about Teens Living With Cancer! And I even got to give a few autographs!
I adore these guys at Quntana Roo. I adore them. They make me feel like Cinderella. They make Teens Living With Cancer feel like they have center stage!!!
Whew.
We hung out at the house.
We went to the TYR luau. Chrissie Wellington was there!
We had so much fun today. And I am exhausted. The good kind of exhausted. I am too tired to even spell check this.
Good night from Hawaii. Much more tomorrow!

Wear lots of sunscreen and have a blast TriYogiMomma!
