This is the 2nd year I've done this indoor tri. I love it, especially the heated outdoor pool and the spin bikes outdoors and the mimosas. Your team did a great job of organizing this event and showcasing the "wow" Mid-Town facility. I'll be back next year and, hopefully, "tri" to get a Corporate RIT wave together. (Very interesting, too, measuring watts rather than miles.Do you think that system of measurement favors climbers? Just curious. )

Thank you for that reminder, "....look for the helpers". Because we do focus on the horror (how can we not?), this reminder reframes the way we look at something so terrible to find something good in it.

Thank you.

'You see so much happen on a bike with a person. You see them ride through barriers that are evident on a bike yet present off the bike. I get to watch them execute a set and then when it’s done look at their neighbor and say “I can’t believe we just did that.”'

This is the same reason I LOVE to coach new runners. Maybe Iron-Athletes experience the same transformation, on some level (I wouldn't really know) - but I love watching someone who didn't hear their body, didn't know how to use it, didn't feel confident in it - start to run.

And slowly, gradually, over 12-15 weeks, this person changes. Yes, she can now run 3 miles. But she also stands taller, walks more confidently, and sees...possibility. She sees possibility in herself - in athletics, but also at school, at home, and at work. There's some about regular endurance activities that change people. And I'm sort of addicted to seeing it happen, again and again...

Thanks for putting words to some of my emotions!

What a difficult kind of day...to know they have to face another long list of "can't dos" - the first and possibly hardest step, before you all work together to turn them around to "can dos". In that sense, it's something like a training plan - tears you down, then builds you back up again...

But analogies won't make the task easy, and frankly, I have no wisdom...but I understand the good that this work does - so I send strength, grace, and peace to you all today...
