
There’s something about Mary
| Throughout Mary’s 15 year long triathlon career she’s set several amateur course records, raced in elite categories, secured overall wins at almost every distance, qualified for the Hawaii Ironman three times and has enjoyed the honor of being named a USAT All American several times. Because of her longtime involvement in the sport, her solid reputation as a triathlete, coach and human being, Mary is a positive ambassador for several companies that have lent their support to her as an athlete. Read about some of her accomplishments here as well.Not only is Mary an accomplished triathlete, she founded Train-This Multisport Coaching.
Mary has coached over 100 athletes to Ironman finishes (100% finisher’s rate) and had worked with athletes of all abilities. In 2011 Mary sold Train-this to join the select and elite group of coaches at QT2 Systems, where she coaches triathletes of all levels from beginner to professional.If that weren’t enough…. Mary is also one of Western New York’s most inspiring Yoga Teachers. For ten years she taught power vinyasa yoga at Breathe Yoga in Pittsford NY where she also developed the Yoga for Athletes program used with the Rochester Rhinos and several local sports teams. Beginning January 2013 you will find Mary at Midtown Athletic Club where she will be teaching both cycling and yoga, as well as presenting several specialty classes. Mary also teaches at o Cycledelic. An instructor who has been there and done that, she blends classes to meet the needs of group ex’ers and cyclists. She teaches “in the zone” which utilizes power, HR and many of her traditional indoor cycling talents to provide cyclists and fitness enthusiasts alike a fun atmosphere in which to improve health and performance. Multisport series, is a contributing writer for XTri and TriDigest, she also volunteers for Teens Living With Cancer, where she is currently running a fitness program for teens who have completed chemotherapy. Her goal is to help them not only regain their health but to become even stronger in their post Cancer life. This fitness program is actually a fully funded research study thanks to the University of Rochester and Wegmans. Mary also helped raise $100,000 for Teens Living With Cancer through her creative “Duel in the Pool” challenge. This season she raced both Lance Armstrong and Craig Alexander. And defeated BOTH! Most importantly her efforts helped to expand the two person organization to Buffalo, where Roswell Park has embraced the programs and welcomes TLC with open arms. Mary is also passionate about cycling safety and after the recent loss of her friend has become an advocate for Rochester’s Share the Road Initiative. Using her voice and her platform in the community to make positive changes is important to her. Married to one of Western New York’s top male triathletes Curt Eggers, this dynamic duo is not only active in the multisport community, but passionate about programs such as Lose the Training Wheels, which helps children with special needs learn to ride two wheel bikes.
